Varnishing
Building the Prospector Ranger
Inside coat  18 hours after the hull was
coated, we turned her over and put the
first coat on the inside, deck, and
gunwales.  Epiphanes was thinned
15% and it went on much better.
Gunwales and Deck  The walnut inlay
against the ash gunwales shows a
nice contrast
Bow deck  The walnut veneer  deck is
the centerpiece of the canoe.  The bow
paddler will have a gorgeous view
while paddling.
Wetsand  Guang cleans the results of
the wet sand.
Second coat  First coat dried 40 hrs
then we put on the second coat,
thinned 15%
Second coat  dried in only 12 hrs
Seat hangers  received 3 coats of
varnish
Ready to finish We are fortunate to
have an enclosed shop to apply the
finish.  Looks good on Guang's car.
