Why Build A Canoe?
After building a Redbird with my brother-in-law and a Storm LT kayak for my
daughter, I talked our friend Guang into building a canoe. I liked the
Prospector canoe design and the 15' Ranger (a Bear Mountain design)
seemed a good choice for rivers, some tripping, and the occasional leaned
solo on calm water.

Guang had little woodworking experience but as a mechanical engineer, he
learned quickly. I found it rewarding to teach another person building
techniques and in the process became more aware of my actions while
working. I can truly say this was a wonderful experience for both of us.
