The Necessity of Wilderness
Garry Duncan, biology professor
|
Dale Benham, biology professor
|
Duncan is trained as a
geneticist and loves the
outdoors. Active in scouts for
years with his two sons, Garry
has camped every month of the
year in sometimes less than
desirable conditions - but
always with a smile. He has
also led student trips to
NIobrara River and has recently
canoed the BWCAW.
His love for the outdoors can
only be exceeded by his love of
chocolate chip cookies,
racquetball and golf.
Jerald Bricker, biology professor
|
Bricker is an avid backpacker
and sleeper outside. His
trips have taken him, his
friends and his students from
the tropical forests of Belize,
to the depths of the coral
reefs of Honduras, down the
rivers of Alaska, to the peaks
of the western rockies, to the
BWCAW.
His finest qualities include
singing while paddling and
never tiring of freeze dried
camping fare.
Megan is a student
co-leader for the course
and loves to be out in the
wild. In January, she spent
two weeks studying in the
Belize rainforest and is
now back for more outdoor
adventure.
Her love for the wilderness
is only topped by the
warmth of a hot shower
after a long excursion.
Megan Larsen, junior biochemistry
molecular biology major
Jennifer Krupicka, junior
biology major
Anna Hill, junior
biology major
Anna is the LAS student
co-instructor for the
course. A Lincoln native,
Anna wants to be a
pediatric surgeon. She
loves camping and being
in the great outdoors, but
her favorite part is sitting
around the fire and telling
stories.
She takes every chance
possible to go away from
the light pollution of the city
and look at the stars.
Jennifer is a student
co-leader for the course. A
transfer student (from
Nursing School), she plans
to one day conduct stem cell
and cancer research.
Jennifer has always had a
love for the wild outdoors,
especially camping with her
family and friends. She was
born and raised on a farm in
Exeter, Nebraska.
